Speaking of plants..
Last weekend, we put in our garden. Here’s the tally:
Seedlings:
- Tomatoes (3 sizes)
- Green bell peppers
- Yellow squash
- Zucchini
- Lots of herbs – basil, parsley, cilantro, rosemary, sage, chives.
Seeds:
- Dill
- Arugula
- Salad mix
- Sugar snap peas
If today’s 50 degee temperatures and cold, cold rain don’t hurt them, I’d say we’re off to a good start. The arugula seeds are sprouting like crazy, and we can see lots of pea shoots, too.
Trying to learn lessons from the last two years, we caged the tomatoes as soon as they went in the ground. All of them. We also didn’t plant the zucchini and squash at the very front of the garden, since last year the zukes grew forward (toward the sunny south) and ended up burning to death on the pavement in front of the garden plot.
Trying to make good on the confessional spirit of the last post, we also got some indoor plants, and we’re going to keep ‘em alive, damn it.
