SCENE 1
Me: Oh look, my sweet baby has fallen softly to sleep while suckling at my bosom. I will lay him gently in his crib for a restorative nap.
Ezra: EPIC STORM OF UNREMITTING RAGE AND BOUNDLESS SORROW!
SCENE 2
Me: Oh look, my sweet baby has fallen softly to sleep while suckling at my bosom. I will lay him gently in his crib for a restorative nap.
Ezra: BABABABABABABA (“I have a new trick! Let me show it to you! I can stand up! In my crib!”)
SCENE 3
Me: Oh look, my sweet baby has fallen softly to sleep while suckling at my bosom. I will lay him gently in his crib for a restorative nap.
Ezra: (gently sleeping)
Me: Hey! Awesome! He’s napping. I will quietly leave the room and go about my business.
Ezra: BABABABABABABA (“I have awoken suddenly and can’t remember if I’ve shown you my new trick yet. It is so cool! Come back and look at me! I am standing in my crib!”)
Me: Thanks, son, but I have indeed seen your trick. How about you lie back down for that nap?
Ezra: EPIC STORM OF UNREMITTING RAGE AND BOUNDLESS SORROW!

— Feb 16 / 19:21Does he practice his great new tricks while suckling at your bosom? That’s the thing Tony does that alternately cracks me up and drives me crazy. For example, currently he is working hard on mastering raking with his hands and developing a pincer grip. He does this relentlessly while nursing to sleep, which at times means Mama is getting seriously scratched up —gotta stay on top of those fingernails!!
